Improvised Villains

June 4 – 8. Performance June 10 at 5 pm
Click Here to Enroll in Camp Improvised Villains

Performance June 10 at 5 pm. In real life, we follow the rules and lend a hand. But this is comedy! This week we create characters and explore comedy inspired by the bad guys. What does the Big Bad Wolf buy his mother for her birthday? How does an apprentice villain create a signature phrase? It’s all in good fun and heroes are welcome to appear. Just a note, even though we’ll be creating villains, the week is primarily about the usual Improv lessons – listening, respecting fellow players and having fun! Real villains need not apply.

Important to Note:

This is a Half Day camp (10 am to 1 pm) that includes a Full Day option (9 am to 4 pm). Half Day students focus on creating work specifically designed for this session. Students who stay for the full day have the opportunity to work on special projects, hang with friends under staff supervision or collaborate with other campers on performance work. Full day campers should bring a lunch.

Have an idea for a show that’s been percolating, but haven’t had the means to produce it?  Itching to direct but lacking a cast? Love to come up with music that supports a story, but in need of a plot? This camp is for you. We will admit a limited number of students who will be supported by our teaching artists and by fellow campers as they create a variety of comedic shows. Campers will agree to the following: 1. In addition to producing your own work, we ask you to commit to supporting other camper’s projects as needed. 2. Productions will be within the scope of our abilities. Students should approach projects with a flexible mindset and trust that teaching artists and fellow students will collaborate to create something new and exciting, based on your idea.

Scratch Ensemble

Love to perform? Great at making a show happen? Join the Scratch Ensemble! Held concurrently with Scratch Comedy, this performance and production based camp assembles a group of youth who will perform in and provide support for original works created by students. A public performance will be held Sunday, July 15th at 5 pm and there is the possibility of another performance the weekend of August 11 & 12.

Campers will perform for an audience at ColdTowne Theater at 5 pm on Sunday, July 15 at ColdTowne Theater.  Some projects may be invited to appear at Excused Absence Fest the weekend of August 11 & 12.
